Rest in Love

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Hello blog readers! Two weeks, and I’ve missed you. As always, God has been dealing very lovingly with me. One of the most wonderful things we can all do, is rest in His love. It’s so simple that it almost seems unreal. But, if we learn to trust in His love, we can live full of joy and peace, even in difficult circumstances.

He loves us.

It sounds simple… But those 3 words are why we have a place prepared for us in heaven.

He loves us.

Ours sins, and the penalty for those sins are washed away because He paid it all on the cross. He loves us.

He transforms our hearts and thinking when we submit ourselves to Him — not forcing us to live for Him — but helping us desire to live for Him because He loves us. Don’t worry about fixing yourself. Give your heart to Jesus, and He does the rest.

Ezekiel 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

He never runs from the hurt, broken, or weak. He runs to them because He loves us.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

We can freely speak our hearts to Him, and He listens because He loves us.

Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

We don’t have to fear death, because He loves us.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We can have a real, intimate relationship with Almighty God!!!!!! We become His Children through Jesus. How exciting!!! Because He loves us!!!

Ephesians 1:5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

You don’t have to do ANYTHING to earn His love. You CAN’T do anything to earn His love. He loves you.

When the enemy tries to make you feel shame for your mistakes, rest in God’s love for you. Nothing you could ever do is too great for his forgiveness. Jesus already paid the price for you. He loves you.

Accept that He loves you. He died for your sins because you are worth saving in His eyes. God finds you worthy. Praise Him!

Colossians 1:12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

In your heart, receive His love. Believe that He died for you to be saved (this is called saving faith), and you will be saved. Heaven is a free gift to all who have faith in Jesus. You will have eternal life in heaven with Him when you trust in Jesus for your salvation. Have faith in Him, and be welcomed into His family.

Galations 3:26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Coconut Madras Curry Soup Recipe

Hello blog readers! I made the simplest, most wonderful soup yesterday. It has to be the easiest soup I’ve ever made. It has a creamy texture, almost like a bisque. If you really want to impress your friends & family, try it! It takes 10 minutes to make. And, you can have it on a Daniel fast, so I want to share it. I call it Coconut Madras Curry Soup.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 (13.5oz) can coconut milk (regular or lite)
  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (regular or vanilla) (I used vanilla)
  • 1 12.5oz jar of Madras Curry
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms (I used oriental, but portabella or any will work)
  • 1/2 cup raw spinach
  • sea salt

**You can find Madras Curry on the aisle where Asian and Indian foods are sold. Specialty stores like Publix and Whole Foods are your best bet. I got it from Rouses. If you’re doing the Daniel fast recipe, choose one without sugar. I used the sauce by Maya Kaimal pictured below.

***I used dried oriental mushrooms (bought from Rouses). If you use dried mushrooms (any kind), you’ll need to let them sit in hot (not boiling) water for 20 minutes before adding them to the soup.

STEPS:

Combine coconut milk, almond milk, and Madras Curry in pot over medium high heat.
Add spinach and mushrooms after soup warms
Add sea salt to taste (you won’t need much salt because the curry has good flavor)

You can eat the soup by itself, or over whole grain brown rice. Or with boiled red potatoes!

I post these recipes for those doing the Daniel fast — but mainly for those who are afraid to give fasting a try. Fear of not knowing what we’re able to eat can cause us to avoid fasting. If your goal is to grow deeper in relationship with God, fasting is a way that can help you. And there are foods and meals that taste great that you are allowed to have. Read up on spiritual fasting before you start a fast. Prepare your meals, or have a list of recipes ready for each day before you start. That might help you. And, don’t harm your body by not taking in any nutrients. He’s a good Father, and will never require you to starve yourself in a harmful way to be closer to Him.

I pray these recipes help you!

As you move forward fasting to God, I encourage you to meditate on His word daily.

I found a very cool app that reads the bible to you. It’s great to listen to after you read a passage to really meditate on it. I play it in the car too. It’s the Redemption app. There are lots of Redemption Church apps. The one I use is pictured below:

Just click on the Bible tab. It pulls up passages for each day, or you can choose which chapters you want to read or listen to.

He is Love

Hello blog readers! I’m excited to share with you today. This morning, I was thinking about Valentine’s Day — which is two days from now. I’ve decided to stop celebrating it.  It’s something I’ve been praying about every since my son came home from school this year with a reminder to bring valentines for his classmates. It’s something we’ve done every year he’s been in school. This year, it didn’t feel right. I understand it’s because of my heart for God that’s been growing as I seek Him.

Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.

God is faithful to remember every promise He’s ever made to me. He has made many.

I’m cleansed of my sin by means of His Son. I’m given the gift of the Holy Spirit because I’ve accepted His Son as my Lord and Savior. The enemy has no authority over my life or future because my Heavenly Father protects, guides and provides for me. In my weakness, He is made strong. He hears every prayer I pray. He supplies all my needs. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. His Word assures me of this. Those are His promises to us. He remembers every promise, and I know He will never forget them.

Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

He forgets nothing. Forgetting is a fault. He is Perfect. He chooses not to remember our sin, which is a very loving thing from someone who cannot forget.  So, how can a God who forgets nothing, forget that Valentine’s Day started as a day of pagan worship? That’s the question that I had to come to terms with.

My son and I looked up the origins of Valentine’s Day to find that it started as a “Christian liturgical” feast day honoring one or more early saints named Valentinus.

Christian liturgy: a pattern for worship used (whether recommended or prescribed) by a Christian congregation or denomination on a regular basis.

It was a worship feast in honor of a priest named Saint Valentinus.

Luke 4:8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'”

Exodus 34:14 –for you shall not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God–

Here’s an interesting article about how Valentine’s Day started:  http://www.npr.org/2011/02/14/133693152/the-dark-origins-of-valentines-day

Is there anything wrong with celebrating love? I don’t believe so. He is love. But have we, through tradition, accepted something offensive to our Father in Heaven because we’re unaware of how the tradition originated? I’m not ok with offending Him. A bouquet of flowers and some candy is not worth it. Nothing is. He’s a Good Father with feelings. Foundations matter to Him.

Thankfully, He is an Examiner of hearts. He knows that we’re celebrating “love” as we’ve been taught. We mean no harm, and He knows it. He’s so understanding and patient. He is love.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

He waited on me for over 30 years to surrender to Him. He’s teaching me that the narrow path isn’t the popular route, but it’s the avenue to peace.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Take the Leap

Hello blog readers! I pray that 2016 is off to a wonderful start for you. I believe in my heart that God is up to something! And, this year will be full of breakthrough, increase, and blessings for those who have faith.

As 2015 ended, the Holy Spirit gave me a message of faith to write about for a previous blog article. And I’ve seen more and more messages of faith from people of God as this year proceeds. God doesn’t want us to miss out on whatever it is He is about to pour out. He is constantly reminding us to Have Faith!

Today in Sunday School, we talked about Acts 12 and the power of prayer. The conversation soon became about faith, and how important it is for us to have it. I don’t think it was a planned part of the discussion for us to go as in depth about faith, but the Holy Spirit was in control of the lesson — and He knows what we need. Besides, can we really have an effective prayer life without faith?

I was able to share something Victoria Osteen posted a few weeks ago that really encouraged me. It was about prayer and faith.

It encouraged me to write a blog: Your Prayer Isn’t Forgotten.  It takes time for a seed to develop into a fruit bearing tree! The same is true about our spiritual seeds (prayers). Water them with faith, and in His perfect timing, you will receive your harvest.

After Sunday school today at my local church, I saw where another woman of God, Joann Rosario Condrey, posted a Part 2 to her message of faith. I follow her ministry online, and joined her church last year, even though I live 4 hours away. God is not random! All these reminders about having faith are not by coincidence. He wants us to receive everything He has for us — and He knows we need faith to do it!

I don’t know what you’re waiting on God for, but please don’t lose faith in Him.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

We serve a God of the impossible. Nothing is too great for Him. Don’t be afraid to ask for the impossible, and believe in Him for it.

Right now, I’m believing Him for a cure for cancer. Not just one person’s survival — but a cure for all cancer. He can do it, and He will do it because nothing is too great for Him. It’s not his will for us to suffer and die to cancer. A cure will come. I know it in my spirit, and I thank Him now for it.

Psalm 103:2-5 Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Hearts will be turned to Him through testimonies of healing. Lost souls will be saved as He receives all the glory. I am praying, and believing Him for this, and I know the fervent prayers of his people availeth much. I stand firm on James 5:6.

Faith and patience work hand-in-hand. Believe that God hears your prayers, and is working behind the scenes to answer them! Your seed might only be in the root-forming stage.

Be patient and you will inherit God’s promise.

Hebrews 6:11-12 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

with God all is possible

1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Step out on faith! Leap out on faith! It’s worth it.

Have faith, and watch God demonstrate how He is working for you. Your faith pleases God!

without faith

Remember, if your faith needs strengthening — it comes by hearing the word of God.

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

If you’re trusting God for something, and need encouragement I suggest watching all of Joann’s recent messages on faith. Faith comes by hearing! I’m posting them below:
